directions from san jose/ bay area. three ways to go, take your pick

Pick #1 - Hwy 17, EASIEST BUT LONGEST ROUTE (about 37 miles, 55 minutes from San Jose)

Recommended for most people unless you are used to driving in the mountains. Definitely the recommended route for those driving and RV or pulling a trailer.

Take Hwy 17 towards Santa Cruz. NOTE: Most GPS will instruct you to get off at Bear Creek Road. Ignore the GPS and stay on Hwy 17 until your GPS stops telling you to get off Hwy 17. Go all the way to Scotts Valley, take the exit for Mt. Herman Road, turn right at the light (following the signs to Felton). Take Mt. Herman Road all the way through Scotts Valley until it ends at the park in Felton. Turn right, stay in the right lane and take the next immediate right. Now you are on Hwy9 headed towards Boulder Creek. You will go about 6 miles, through Ben Lomond and Brookdale. When you see the sign saying you have entered Boulder Creek, drive past the first street (River Street) on the right, then make your next right, which is Grove Street. The sign for the resort will be right in front of you pointing to the entrance.

Pick #2 - Hwy 9, SCENIC ROUTE (about 35 miles, 55 minutes from San Jose)

Take Hwy 9 into the Santa Cruz mountains (from Hwy 17 take Hwy 9/Los Gatos exit and turn left in Saratoga. From Hwy 280 take Saratoga Ave towards Saratoga). Go through the town of Saratoga, past Hakone Gardens etc. You will go about 6 miles at which point you come to a four-way stop at Hwy 35 (Skyline) . Go forward through the stop sign, staying on Hwy 9. You will go about another 15 miles and then enter the town of Boulder Creek. Go forward through the stop sign and continue through town. When you start to leave town you will see a Foster Freeze on your left. Go a few more blocks and you will see a sign, "Brookdale 1 mi". Make you next left turn onto Grove Street. The sign for the resort will be right in front of you pointing to the entrance.

Pick #3 - Bear Creek Road, CRAZY BUT QUICK ROUTE (about 25 miles, 40 minutes from San Jose) Note: Your GPS will likely steer you in this direction. Do not take this route if pulling a trailer or driving an RV. Very twisty and winding road. This road is difficult to navigate at night.

Take Hwy 17 towards Santa Cruz. At Lexington Reservoir, take the exit for Bear Creek Road. Turn left at the stop sign after you get off the freeway. Drive carefully as this road is narrow and twisty. Do not stray from the yellow line. At times the road will veer off in different directions, but Bear Creek is the only rad with a yellow dividing line., so as long as you follow that, you will not get lost. When the road dead-ends at Hwy 9 in Boulder Creek, turn left then follow Hwy 9 into town. Go forward through the stop sign and continue through town. When you start to leave town you will see a Foster Freeze on left. Go a few more block and you will see a sign "Brookdale 1 mi". Grove Street is the next left turn. Turn left, the resort sign will be right in front of you pointing you to the entrance.
